Illustration Friday: Jump

Okay so I’ve already done an Illustration Friday today.. but the first one didn’t count.. maybe!
..I think I must be feeling super crafty at the moment.

I’ve painted this little dude in my boyfriend’s lovely Citadel paints (..awesome shades like ‘bubonic brown’!)
This grasshopper is getting ready to jump off the page!

This is one not quite so conventional, little owl painting!

Right now I’m painting a pretty little owl using my boyfriend’s Citadel paints…
so that’s ‘Chaos Black’ for the eyes, ‘Vomit Brown’ for the feet and ‘Rotting Flesh’ for the feathers! .. Lovely!:)

I should probably put the paintbrush down now though, bedtime!

A is for Axolotl

The start of the new Animal Oddities Alphabet? I wonder what B should be!
(I’m loving this whole ‘spare time’ thing! I’m enjoying it while it lasts!)

This is an axolotl (Pronounced like ‘ack-suh-lah-tuhl’)
They’re a type of  near extinct aquatic salamander,
but they never actually grow out of their metamorphic stage as they have
a condition called ‘neoteny’. (so they essentially stay like tadpoles, how cute!)
They’re particularly fascinating because they can regenerate …
so their limbs can grow back. This one is known as a melanoid albino!

Illustration Friday: Shades

So.. Everything’s over and I’ve finally managed to have a weekend all to myself! (Spare time is like gold dust at the moment!) I’ve doodled an adorable red panda chillaxing in the shade for Illustration Friday and also because of the completion of all my current projects, including the Boy and the Bunnet! (You can buy the book  here!) So anyway this red panda kind of feels  a bit like a self portrait right now! I’m off now to enjoy the fleeting sunshine! (Spring’s nearly here!) xx

Deer oh deer!

It’s been far too long since my last post! I’ve had my head in a graphic design cloud and my time consumed by full time work and also creating roughs for two of my commissions. (One of them the QH theatre!) Nothing too exciting to report really, but I’m in the process of creating a small scale piece for the ‘Open Eye Gallery’ in Edinburgh for their Christmas Exhibition, and I stumbled upon this pattern and pointillism concept. But I decided to go with a different ‘eye’dea (sorry..) and thought I’d share this with you anyway! I think I’ll make these into wee little christmas cards!:) Cheerio for now! x

Illustration Friday : Imperfect

The Imperfect Pigeon

THIS IS MY 100th POST! WAHOOO! *ahem*

Well, I decided it was time to get doodling again (it’s been a while!) so I thought Illustration Friday was a good way to go!
Having a new job has ensured a total lack of free time, but anyway..slightly delayed.. here he is: An imperfect pigeon in Edinburgh City! (The pigeons here in Nottingham are practically injury free compared to the epicly injured Scottish pigeons found in Glasgow and Edinburgh, but still, finding a pigeon anywhere in the world with perfect feet is impossible!) So the imperfect pigeon with his sore twisted swollen foot is a combination of  nice repetitive pen and ink lines, a photo collage of Edinburgh skyline with some digital colouring. But he’s curious and beautiful on the inside! (Just like the walruses!) Cheerio for now! x

Drawing for Zine 'Fruit & Fetishes'

This was a doodle I did for Laura Davis, who created an awesome little zine called  ’Fruit & Fetishes’ .
I need to get back on the drawing, I’m getting lazy! Well, it’s Illustration Friday tomorrow, who knows, maybe I’ll actually do one this week? It’s very blustery outside tonight.. the neighbour’s wind chimes are going crazy! It sounds like this when I’ve pressed all the buttons!! Addictive much?
