Deer Oh Deer!

It’s been far too long since my last post! I’ve had my head in a graphic design cloud and my time consumed by full time work and also creating roughs for two of my commissions. (One of them the QH theatre!) Nothing too exciting to report really, but I’m in the process of creating a small scale piece for the ‘Open Eye Gallery’ in Edinburgh for their Christmas Exhibition, and I stumbled upon this pattern and pointillism concept. But I decided to go with a different ‘eye’dea (sorry..) and thought I’d share this with you anyway! I think I’ll make these into wee little christmas cards!:) Cheerio for now! x
Davenport Creative Agency Preview Evening!

Wow what a mouthful! ^
Life’s been pretty hectic recently! I’m working on several different commissions at the moment and I’ll hopefully have something to show you very soon! I went to my first of 6 weekly life drawing classes tonight, it was a big challenge actually and I felt like it’d been forever since I got the charcoal out, but it just takes a little time to get back into it. Looking forward to next week’s class already, it’s nice to get away from the computer screen! If I’m feeling brave I might pop some images up… maybe…
Anywho my new creative agency’s gallery has moved and reopened in Nottingham! The preview was last Friday and what a fantastic night it was! The new space is completely beautiful, I’ve popped a few photos up by fantastic photographer Jake Jakiewicz (thanks very much!!) which I’ve borrowed from here. You can see my original screenprint cushions and my book Vulpes & Vulpes in the odd image! He’s taken some brilliant photos of the night’s events, but be sure to check out his portfolio too!

Living in the land of Robin Hood

So I’m now living in Nottingham! AND There’s so many foxes here! (It’s a dream come true!) It’s a really beautiful city with art on every corner and when the sun’s shining there’s some rather exciting fountains I can’t wait to jump in!
My first thought was to get involved ASAP in the creative art scene here so when I stumbled upon this beautiful eclectic little gallery called ‘The Davenport Shop of Originality‘ I was so delighted when they said they’d exhibit my work! So now you’ll soon be able to find my Ugly Walruses, Celio and my foxes in Nottingham! (pictures to come soon!)
For a current commission for the Queens Hall Theatre in Edinburgh I took some inspirational reference photos of some amazing street musicians including this jazz player and his saxophone. I thought it was a pretty awesome photo so I thought I’d pop it up on here!

D&AD New Blood.

I’M BACK!
So I spent the last week or so down in London exhibiting for D&AD New Blood, which was an opportunity to showcase your work to the entire creative industry.
It was a fantastic experience, it was pretty terrifying, as the competition is unbelievable, but I loved every second! I put up two large A1 prints, one of my rolling foxes and one of my cloud following the boy on the boat (which by the way has gone into the final round of UNLEASHED-’ Best in the North!’ 2011 EXCITING!!
The exhibition is currently on in Manchester in Mr Tom’s Chop House, where prints of this piece are available for purchase on an auction day on the 14th July. Half of the money raised goes to a really fantastic charity. You can see more details here on the BBC NEWS.)
Got a bit carried away with myself there.. back to D&AD..
…ahem.. I also put out my two books of the fox and the cloud stories, which got some really great reactions and feedback! A fantastic week overall! But anyway here’s some photos of the ECA show in London, some more to come soon!
Thanks to Jamie Scott for the photos!
