Illustration Friday: Faded
May 26th, 2012 § 5 Comments

It’s been incredibly warm here the past few days (it makes a lovely change!) so here’s a tree fading into a beautiful hazy summer day.
This is a mix of print and digital, I’d love to screen print this one day soon though.
This is a page taken from my children’s book : my troublesome cloud. Which you can read here!: http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/2116279
Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Just a quick doodle I’ve made for illustration friday’s brief: Sight.
It’s a hawk scouting for food in the terrible British weather!

I did actually paint this specifically for illustration friday, but I’m worried it’s a wee bit obscure!
Macaws eat nuts right? I was just adamant not to draw a squirrel! (Or a nut!)
So anyway here’s two Macaws keeping a beedy eye out for breakfast!
(Painted in the usual medium of my boyfriend’s Citadel paints!
It’s hawk turquoise and scorpion green today!
(This was painted from a fantastic photograph by Adrian Pingstone)
Happy Sunday everybody!

Okay so I’ve already done an Illustration Friday today.. but the first one didn’t count.. maybe!
..I think I must be feeling super crafty at the moment.
I’ve painted this little dude in my boyfriend’s lovely Citadel paints (..awesome shades like ‘bubonic brown’!)
This grasshopper is getting ready to jump off the page!

Illustration Friday: Jump

For this week’s Illustration Fri is my doodle of a jumping fox, infilled with an intricate cog design. I’ve been a bit short on time recently, so I wanted to pop this up now just in case I don’t get the time to do my other concept!
The pattern was drawn by hand and then the silhoutte of the fox added. This print is available on Etsy as a print too! (http://www.etsy.com/listing/77345604/leaping-mechanical-foxes?ref=v1_other_1) and also as an original screenprint! (get in touch for more details)
These doodles are taken from my book Vulpes and Vulpes, which you can see here!

Illustration Friday: Shades

So.. Everything’s over and I’ve finally managed to have a weekend all to myself! (Spare time is like gold dust at the moment!) I’ve doodled an adorable red panda chillaxing in the shade for Illustration Friday and also because of the completion of all my current projects, including the Boy and the Bunnet! (You can buy the book here!) So anyway this red panda kind of feels a bit like a self portrait right now! I’m off now to enjoy the fleeting sunshine! (Spring’s nearly here!) xx
Illustration Friday: Boundaries
September 14th, 2011 § 6 Comments
For a while I’ve been wanting to get to grips with digital painting and get fully accustomed to my lovely new tablet, so without my safety net of pen, paper and pencil, I took the opportunity to illustrate ‘boundaries’ and get some fun patterns and marks into my sleepy smiley lion character. I was just basically experimenting with effects and getting used to the process! I wanted to create an Autumnal pallet too to celebrate the introduction of fluffy woollen scarves and things back into my wardrobe!
I chose to illustrate a lion because of their well known strong territorial behaviour and also (..and possibly primarily..) because the Lion King 3D is being released soon! (yay!) Ohhhhhh and another (rather awesome) reason for choosing the lion is because my art collective has found a lovely new home, and it’s FANTASTIC! Celebrations all round!
