Bull Ring Yarn Bomb
December 1st, 2011 § Leave a Comment
I spotted this yarn bombing happening in Birmingham Bull Ring today-
it’s utter GENIUS and definitely made passers-by smile! They gave him a wee warm jumper! (it was pretty cold to be fair!)
Here it is on the news!

Nightime Stories and Saughton too!

I feel like I haven’t posted in ages! I’ve been a bit preoccupied with life generally, but amidst everything I’ve been trying to get a move on with the Saughton Stories project too- I’m actually quite pleased with how it’s been going! (which makes a change..)
Soo the above image is my opening page for the sketchbook project, I’ve become a bit obsessed with that type of markmaking recently, it’s very satisfying! I need to really get a move on with that though.. I’m being to precious!
Some of my Saughton images so far:
It’s been a difficult project as my work is completely and entirely not suited towards the whole prison atmosphere..but I’ve given it a go.. I’m actually quite happy with the image- its quite similar concept-wise to the Leaf Mag images and Duality kind of blended together.
I’ve been doing a lot of work encorporating text into images. This is probably going to be completely different in about 2weeks when I’ve decided it looks too ‘children’s book-like’. again. But thats what kind of work I do! Why did I sign up for this??
These are just basic concepts at the moment, I’ve gone over and over ideas and this is the one that keeps coming back, so I’ve decided simple is best, and try not to go overboard with pattern and textures.
I’m obviously going to eventually hand-write the letters and sentences, as its a bit distracting with type.
And I’m noticing a definate colour theme today!
Also, one last thing! I found this
most incredible photography by Cole Rise.

Ahh mega Deja vu!
*ahem* Well anyway here’s some awesome bizarre animal information video link as recommended by Alice!
‘Nick Baker’s Weird Creatures’ http://www.megavideo.com/?v=9KIHCYR4 it’s not exactly new..but totally worth the watch!
So, now some of my original choices of animals have been knocked off the list and replaced.. ( i feel a teeny bit mean!) like the (slightly gross) froghopper insect has now been replaced by this rather adorable looking creature-
the Fenneck Fox! (Probably coming next up!)
