Blossom & the Moon

April 4th, 2012 § Leave a Comment

(..Okay so it’s not really the moon!)
But moon or not, I thought the lighting of the blossom here was really beautiful, and I didn’t need to edit this photo at all to get this extraordinary colour. I took this snap when I got back from my holiday the other day, the blossom’s definitely been blown away now since we had the random snow/wind/rain/horribleness today!

House martin

A House Martin returning to her baby chicks

For this week’s Illustration Fri I doodled a house martin returning to her baby chicks to feed them (one of them is pretty full already though!)I wanted to experiment with backgrounds this week and try a different approach to mark making with my fineliner.

If you like my print you can buy it in my etsy shop here! http://www.etsy.com/listing/96692172/returning-home

Thanks for taking a peek!

Αθήνα (Athens!)

I spent the past week in Athens enjoying the sunshine and putting my feet up! (just like my red panda!)
I saw some incredible sights, some were quite unexpected!
The wildlife in Greece was totally amazing, and I’ve come back feeling fully inspired.
Some doodles to come soon hopefully!
(Bedtime now!)

A is for Axolotl

March 20th, 2012 § Leave a Comment

The start of the new Animal Oddities Alphabet? I wonder what B should be!
(I’m loving this whole ‘spare time’ thing! I’m enjoying it while it lasts!)

This is an axolotl (Pronounced like ‘ack-suh-lah-tuhl’)
They’re a type of  near extinct aquatic salamander,
but they never actually grow out of their metamorphic stage as they have
a condition called ‘neoteny’. (so they essentially stay like tadpoles, how cute!)
They’re particularly fascinating because they can regenerate …
so their limbs can grow back. This one is known as a melanoid albino!

(Some random animal facts for you!)

Good night everyone!

Illustration Friday: Shades

March 17th, 2012 § 13 Comments

So.. Everything’s over and I’ve finally managed to have a weekend all to myself! (Spare time is like gold dust at the moment!) I’ve doodled an adorable red panda chillaxing in the shade for Illustration Friday and also because of the completion of all my current projects, including the Boy and the Bunnet! (You can buy the book  here!) So anyway this red panda kind of feels  a bit like a self portrait right now! I’m off now to enjoy the fleeting sunshine! (Spring’s nearly here!) xx

It was great to get out over the weekend and get a little bit of Vitamin D! We headed to Whitepost Farm in Nottingham (a completely lovely petting zoo!) I took far too many photos and we fed many many adorable animals.
I’ve attached a photos of just a few of the highlights!

I’ll be uploading some doodles very soon- sorry I’ve been so elusive, I’ve been a crazily busy bee!
Maybe I’ll even have time to do an illustration Friday!

Poster B&TB
It’s so much fun spotting Neil everywhere in scotland!

( I can’t believe that I actually subliminally coordinate with my illustrations!)

WOW I had such a wonderful weekend at TB&TB musical last weekend!

It was fantastic hearing the live music in connection with the book-
it actually brought me and my friend to tears, it was so beautiful!

Whilst I was up in that neck of the woods, I also got to take a quick peek at my latest illustration for Queen’s Hall Theatre!
Really happy with how the illustration of the violin came out on the
banners along the building wall and on the brochures too!

Also, I FINALLY set up a tumblr account!
Yay! So now you can follow/add/question,

and say Hi! You can visit me here! <(click me!)

Sorry for the rather eclectic post!
Life is rather hectic at the mo!
Night night all!
